About me
My name is Paul Evans. I live in Oxfordshire, UK and have been working as a professional designer since graduating from Falmouth College of Arts in 1996 with first class Honours in Graphic Information Design. Since that time my work has been focused on digital media, having worked with Monster, Syzygy and AMX digital …on brands such as Barclays, BP, Amex, Cable & Wireless, Boots, Halfords, Siemens and Saab/Scania.

My work often extends beyond the screen, having worked in print based media and corporate identity design. I program using OOP languages such as Lingo and Actionscript, as well a bit of ASP and PHP and also have experience setting up database driven sites using MySQL and Access. My experience in digital media has grown out of my Degree show major project; Playmatics, an educational game (created back in the days of Macromedia Director 6) based around Key stage 2 Mathematics. The project won the Proctor & Stevensen Multimedia Prize in 1996.
My current work and direction is concentrated around the convergence of web standards (XHTML, CSS and WCAG) and content managed solutions using Drupal. Keeping with my information design roots, usability is always highly considered in my approach to design. I like to base a great deal of my design time around proper planning and understanding the brief before I ever draw a line on screen. So if you call me up and ask, “How much to design a 4 page site?”, I'm not likely to answer it in a few words …and the best solution may cost less than you think!
