Site Structure

Home

The top banner includes the National Galleries of Scotland crest, links to the Exhibition Home Page and links to the National Galleries of Scotland main website. Beneath the banner, there is an introduction to the show and links to finding out more and buying tickets.

About the show

This page introduces the show, with links forward to four more pages, covering different stages of Douglas Gordon's career. The last page links to the box office and also a gallery of highlights.

Highlights

This page has a gallery of ten images within the exhibition, along with their titles. Selecting each image takes you to a new page with the work on a bigger scale as well as a short text about the work. It also gives the medium of the work, its size and who it belongs to.

Visitor Info

This page introduces the venue the exhibition is on at: opening times, directions to the venue and accessibility information about the venue itself.

Buy tickets

This page lists the price of tickets, the dates available to purchase and enables users to select a date and link through to the online ticket kiosk to purchase tickets.

Accessibility

All pages have been designed with the objective of making information accessible to all users.

Visual design

Colours throughout the site provide maximum contrast between foreground and background items. All interface graphics and images throughout the site have been assigned an Alt-text attribute, which describes the contents or function of the item.
Style-sheets (CSS) have been used for all visual items and text. This means that the text size within the browser can be changed by selecting "View" and then "Text size".

Screen is designed for a minimum resolution of 800x600. The optimum resolution to view the site is 1024x768 and above.

W3C Compliance

This site has been designed to comply with the guidelines issued by W3C/WAI. All pages meet priority 3 (AAA) guidelines of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, which is the highest level of conformance that can be achieved.

Access keys

Most browsers support access key functionality, which provides access to key parts of the website interface. To use access keys follow the following guidelines:

For Windows users: press "ALT" plus the listed access key.

For Macintosh users: press "Control" plus the listed access key.

Pressing “Enter” will then take you to the page.

If you experience any problems or have any recommendations to improve accessibility using assistive technology please contact us, and we’ll do our best to make improvements.
